Big Book Week 2025

Big Book Week 2025

Last week in school we celebrated all things book related with our annual Big Book Week.

Students have been able to take part in several events and activities around school which help to promote reading, including book extracts in tutor time, ‘Drop it and Read!’ timeouts in lessons, ‘Guess Who?’ book character edition, ‘Reading Rooms’ available at lunchtimes, a bookmark design competition and our ‘Mad Hatter’s Bake Sale’.

Along with all these activities, students and staff all joined in our annual Book Character Dress-Up Day on Friday March 7th.

Well done to all those who took part and made the most of these creative activities. A special congratulations goes to our bookmark design winners:
Maddie Year 10, Maise Year 8 and Niamh Year 8.

We want to say a big well done to those students who came in some amazing costumes. There were too many to highlight but a special mention goes to Adam Year 7, Oliver Year 7 and Leo Year 11, for their imaginative outfits.

A special thank you has to go to our staff who got into the spirit of the day and dressed up as characters from their favourite books. Congratulations to the Admi

n team who won the award for the ‘Best Dressed Department’ for their Jurassic Park costumes. Congratulations also go out to Miss M Jones for the ‘Best Dressed’ award, Mr Hanlon for the ‘Best DIY Costume’, Mr Sidwells for the ‘Most Commitment to Character’ and finally; Mr Sorsby for the ‘Best Legs’.
