The Grango Approach
This is a framework for shaping students’ conduct both within and beyond the school setting. The code of conduct is embedded and reaffirmed within our community during PSE lessons, assemblies and form time.
Expectations of Parents/Carers
Ysgol Y Grango has been educating young people for over 100 years. We have a long and proud tradition of unlocking potential for generations. The cornerstone of this success is partnership work with parents based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to encouraging students to discover their talents, abilities and achieve their full potential.
Parents support is extremely important and assistance in upholding our high standards regarding uniform, attendance and behaviour is pivotal in the school’s improvement journey.
Emotional Health and Wellbeing
Learners’ health and wellbeing are of paramount importance at Ysgol Y Grango. Our dedicated Pastoral team led by the Assistant Headteacher, liaises with a range of external partners to support students, including: School Nurse, Student Wellbeing Coordinator, School Counsellor, Youth Worker, Educational Social Worker, Police Liaison Officer. We also meet regularly with counsellors, who organise one to one counselling sessions for vulnerable students. The students follow a Pastoral Curriculum, which reinforces the school values, a comprehensive PSE programme and the academic curriculum.
Rewards
Rewards and half-termly assemblies celebrate students’ achievements, fostering a positive school culture. By recognising academic, social, and personal successes, these events inspire excellence and promote a sense of pride and belonging.
Rewards take many forms including certificates, trophies and prizes. Regular celebrations motivate students to set goals, overcome challenges, and keep improving.
