Rising Seven Transition

Croeso and congratulations to all learners who have received an offer of a place at Ysgol Y Grango.

This page contains a wealth of information for learners and their families to inform you about your new school. Please keep checking the “Rising Seven Transition” page as we will update it between now and the first day of school with more information regarding the transition process.

Headteacher’s Welcome

At Ysgol y Grango, we are a family and advocate the importance of belonging: cynefin. We aim to promote a love of learning within a safe, nurturing and ambitious learning environment, where individuals matter, and their happiness and wellbeing are of paramount importance.

We are large enough to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, while being small enough to provide the bespoke care and attention our students require to enable them to be a success.

Confirmation of your child’s place

On 3rd March 2025, parents/carers received confirmation of their child’s school place for September 2025.

In readiness for September 2025 and to help us prepare for your child starting at Ysgol Y Grango, we politely request that you click into the links below to access and complete the Data Consent Form and Medical Form. The information required must be obtained before your child can start at Ysgol Y Grango. This information will be received directly by the school and used to update your child’s school records.  All personal details will be stored confidentially and securely, in accordance with GDPR.

Please note, the school predominantly uses electronic communication, and this will be the medium of contact we will use to contact you initially.  Therefore, it is essential that your current priority email address is accurate with your child’s primary school.  If you need to update this with the primary school then please do so as a matter of urgency.

A Warm Welcome from Mrs Povey

As Head of Year 7 and Transition Coordinator, I am delighted for our new Year 7 learners to join the Ysgol Y Grango family and I am really looking forward to meeting them all very soon. This is an exciting next stage of your child’s learning journey and working in partnership with our families is at the heart of the transition process.

At Ysgol Y Grango we acknowledge the transition to high school is a significant milestone in a child’s life. Therefore, please take comfort from the fact that you and your child will be supported throughout the journey by our highly experienced and dedicated pastoral team.

A smooth transition

The wellbeing of all learners is paramount to everything that we do, and to ensure a smooth transition we work very closely with all the primary schools, Year 6 learners and specialist services.

We offer a range of transition days and activities for your child to participate in which include meeting new staff, team building and familiarising themselves with a new building and surroundings.

To find out any further details about the school please refer to the links in the Transition Information Pack for Parents/Carers at the bottom of this page
