We believe that by providing appropriate opportunities, challenges, and support, we can inspire these learners to extend their learning, explore their interests, and develop their skills to the highest level.
The Programme
Our More Able and Talented programme is designed to identify and cater for students with ability, creativity, or aptitude across a variety of subjects and disciplines. We aim to create an inclusive learning environment where every child is challenged, inspired, and empowered to explore their curiosity, take risks, and achieve personal success.
Through enrichment opportunities, differentiated learning approaches, and collaborative projects, our learners are encouraged to think critically, creatively, and independently.
Engaging & Challenging
We offer a range of opportunities both within and beyond the classroom to ensure that our more able and talented learners are engaged and challenged. These include extension activities, extracurricular opportunities, competitions, and access to outside agencies that broaden their horizons.
Our dedicated staff work closely with these learners, tailoring provision to meet individual needs, encourage personal growth, and foster a lifelong love of learning.
By identifying and celebrating individual talents, we strive to build confidence, ambition, and resilience among our students. We believe that every learner should feel empowered to aim high, take ownership of their learning journey, and realise their aspirations.

Recent examples of extracurricular activities that have taken place at Ysgol y Grango are:
- Science STEM activities such as exploring sound (Xplore)
- SEREN Masterclasses covering topics such as Law and Medicine
- Talk the Talk workshops aimed at improving confidence and high-end oracy skills
- Visits to Wrexham University to instil future goals and aspirations
