Year 8 STEM Challenge
Twenty-five enthusiastic Year 8 pupils took part in an exciting STEM Speed Challenge, hosted by the Engineering Education Scheme Wales (EESW). The event offered students the opportunity to design, build, and race their own miniature vehicles powered by gas canisters, providing a hands-on insight into the world of engineering.
This high-energy challenge not only sparked creativity and innovation, but also gave pupils a valuable glimpse into careers in automotive and mechanical engineering. Working collaboratively, they applied problem-solving skills, tested prototypes, and refined their designs—all within a real-world engineering context.
Throughout the day, our pupils showcased outstanding behaviour, teamwork, and a genuine passion for learning. Their conduct was a credit to the school, and our guests from EESW praised them for their enthusiasm and focus. The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the experience as “inspiring,” “fun,” and “eye-opening.”
Well done to all involved—you made us proud!
