Ysgol y Grango in Rhosllanerchrugog

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

I am delighted and proud to welcome you to the Ysgol y Grango website.

We are a mixed secondary school for students between 11 and 16 years of age, situated in the rural village of Rhosllannerchrugog, with approximately 550 students on roll. The school, dating from 1906 and rebuilt in 1985, serves its strong knit local community and other nearby villages, less than five miles from Wrexham city centre.

At Ysgol y Grango we aim to promote a love of learning within a caring, purposeful and stimulating environment, where individuals matter and their happiness and wellbeing are of paramount importance. We are large enough to deliver a broad and balanced curriculum, while being small enough to provide the bespoke care and attention our students require to enable them to be a success.

The ethos of the school is firmly embedded in our core values of mutual respect, high standards of self-discipline and hard work. We have an excellent pastoral care system and diverse programme of extra-curricular activities to ensure that all our learners have the opportunity to thrive.

The values of respect, honesty, integrity, high aspirations and self-belief permeate the curriculum. We also embrace the culture and language of Wales, provide access to up to date technology and prepare our children for life in the 21st Century.

Our school motto, Excellence For All and Excellence From All, embodies all that we do. Our highly committed staff challenge our students academically, morally and socially day after day. We work with our students to ensure they receive appropriate levels of support both academically and pastorally to realise their potential. We want all our students to be brave, bold, curious and resilient.

As Headteacher, my vision for your child is for them to maximise their academic potential, whatever that may be. We want your child to flourish into a well-rounded individual, to be confident and forward thinking, able to fully contribute to this vibrant school community and beyond.

We hope that this website provides you with the information you require, however, should you require any additional guidance then please do contact the school to arrange an individual visit.

Ms V Brown, Headteacher
