Key Stage 4 Examination Results 2015

Students at Ysgol y Grango have been celebrating their successes in external examinations today. Mr S Garthwaite, headteacher, wishes to congratulate students for their hard work and determination to succeed. They have shown real commitment to their learning and these excellent results are richly deserved. The students are a real credit to Ysgol y Grango and have been excellent ambassadors for the school. They have been supported by a team of dedicated and committed teachers and support staff, who have done their absolute utmost to ensure that the students succeed. Special thanks must also go to parents for their continued support of their children and the school.

We are particularly pleased with our results in English, maths and Welsh. 62% of the year group achieved a C or higher in English, while 58% achieved C or higher in mathematics. 76% of the year group achieved a C grade or higher in Welsh. These outstanding results reflect how the students have positively engaged with interventions and strategies put in place to support the Welsh government focus on literacy, numeracy and the Welsh language.

All the students have performed to their very best, and special mention must go to: Carys Jones, who achieved 5 A* grades and 5 A grades, 1 B and 1 C at GCSE; Hannah Jones, who gained 3 A*, 6 A, 2 B grades at GCSE; and Rhys Williams who achieved 3 A*, 6 A and 2 B grades at GCSE; Kian Hogg who achieved 5 A, 5 B, ; Chloe Andrews 1 A*, 6 A, 2 B and 1 C.

We would also like to mention Sinead Baker, a Year 10 student who has already achieved an A* in Mathematics.

Congratulations to everyone at Ysgol y Grango – we are very proud of you all!!

Mr Stephen Garthwaite

Headteacher
